Rhein 3-D Diamond blade, step knife. The sloping bevels of the anterior and posterior surfaces of the diamond are specially designed to automatically compensate for incising a spherical globe at an angle. These unique top & bottom bevels allow the shoulders of the blade to enter tissue at the same perpendicular plane as the tip, without having to applanate or "Dimple Down” to achieve linear incision. The result is a more efficient and reproducible water-tight incision, with less corneal distortion. These modified bevels enhance endothelial pumping, and create a more secure seal without having to hydrate stroma. Both internal and external incisions are perfectly linear, without flaps or scrolling occurring in descemet’s. The blade measures 200 microns thick, and 1.75 millimeters from tip to shoulders. The blade is available on a step titanium handle with calibrations of 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, and 4.5 millimeters for constructing a step groove incision, anterior view.
